list of baranavichy buses: actual state (Yauheni Shpak)
28 bus routes in Baranavichy are served by more then 100 buses daily. They are from five manufacturers of three countries: Belarus
(MAZ,
Amkador,
Nyeman), Hungary
(Ikarus) and Russia (LiAZ).
At the beginning of the 90th the country faced the problem of garage modernization in the sphere of passenger transportation. There was no opportunity to
change the old-things to new and the transportation was realized by the buses which exceeded the operation life for more than 10 years. The leaders of Bus Park No. 2 tried to
find the way out, that’s why they bought LiAZ 5256 buses and two polish buses Jecz 120M which were exotic for Belarus. There was also one by Amkador, assembled of Ikarus 280
parts.
Beginning with the middle of the 90th they mostly bought used buses Ikarus 260 and Ikarus 280 in Germany, which technically were better than the same buses
in our country. Also they repaired the buses at Homel Bus Repair Plant.
After the contry’s government stop to finance the buying of used buses in Europe, the Bus Park turned to belarusian producers.
At the last years the old buses have been changed to new of the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ). Firstly, three buses MAZ 103 with low floor were bought. But
they appeared not suitable for our streets. And as the result MAZ 104 and MAZ 105, as an alternative to Ikarus 280, came in use. The word “alternative” is not the
exact one here, because in Belarus only MAZ produces such buses.
On May, 2006 Baranavichy became the 3rd city in the country, in the streets of which the single three-axle machine started its daily service. MAZ 107 — is
almost 15m length; it gets between the single MAZ 103/104 and articulated MAZ 105. In the same 2006 year the low-floor bus MAZ 103 was delivered to Bus Park again, and then
in continuum namely these buses were bought from time to time.
2007 was the year, when city-buses Nyeman 5201 were firstly delivered for Baranavichy. Before this, the last city bus delivered from Lida appeared to be
Nyeman 5256 — the almost exact copy of Russian LiAZ 5256.
In winter 2007/2008 2 first MAZ city buses of second generation (MAZ 206) appeared in Baranavichy. Unfortunately the buses that are assigned for low loaded
city lines (as it is done, for example, in Hrodna and Brest) are strangely used only at suburban lines.
